About this Cottage

These two holiday properties are situated on a working farm and are centrally located to explore all the delights of this friendly county, all within easy driving distance. Old Horton Grange (ref MVS) is a spacious, detached, former family country house and is an ideal retreat for all generations, whether its a break for that special occasion or a family holiday. The property has large living rooms, a games room and four cosy wood-burning stoves, as well as a generous garden for relaxing. Parts of this delightful house date back over 400 years, so plenty of traditional features, mixed with contemporary living, await you. The Bothy House (ref MQD), set in its own 1-acre of tranquil and peaceful woodland, was the Regional Winner of the Northern Counties Master Builder of the Year award in 2006 and features an atrium-style ceiling. Standing detached, this unusual bothy house boasts breathtaking sunsets from the glorious south-facing windows. The picturesque town of Ponteland is nearby, with plenty of shops and eateries suitable for all ages. A charming, award-winning farm shop centre is only a couple of minutes’ drive. Easily accessible are all the attractions of the county, including Hadrian’s Wall and the Cheviots. An easy drive takes visitors to the miles of golden sandy beaches scattered along the Heritage Coast, peppered with castles, friendly villages and is ideal for water enthusiasts, perfect for lovely days out. Further along the coast is Holy Island, not to be missed for a fascinating day trip (watch out for the tides), Alnwick with its famous castle used in the Harry Potter films and the enchanting water gardens, which can be reached in around 45 minutes. Newcastle, with its regenerated quayside, galleries, theatres and an array of shops, is only a 15-minute drive. Refs MVW and MVX are also owned by the same owners and are situated 15 miles from Old Horton Grange and The Bothy House. Shop 1½ miles, pub 2½ miles.
