About this Cottage

Situated on the picturesque South Devon Coast, Torquay is one of three beautiful towns forming the sheltered Tor Bay and is renowned for the warm climate and clear bathing waters. The local beaches form a golden arc around the bay with shingle coves scattered nearby. Braganza has a sweeping gated drive which leads past the Mediterranean style garden to this exquisite Grade II listed Georgian villa set above Torquay’s harbour side and yacht marina. This fine house is attached to the owner’s apartment and takes full advantage of its southerly facing position with sea views into Torbay. The property has been renovated, to restore this gracious residence back to the grandeur of its period, which is around 1823. Once owned by Rear Admiral Sir Charles Dashwood and Lady Elizabeth this very impressive house is very spacious and has sea views from most rooms. There is a hot tub with beach and spa towels included. This is the perfect house for a large family to holiday together or a celebration, not just for a summer holiday but for celebrating special occasions throughout the year. Enjoy surfing, swimming, diving, sailing, angling and wonderful opportunities to study the natural wildlife. Stunning views can be seen almost everywhere across Torbay, out over the English Channel, along the 40 miles of Lyme Bay to Portland Bill or inland towards the Ten Tors Dartmoor. Torquay is an ideal base from which to visit Dartmouth, Totnes, Exeter and Plymouth, a few miles away. Dartmouth and Paignton also have wonderful things to do. Visit Agatha Christie’s summer house, or take ride on the steam train. There are many NT properties to see in the area as well. Shops, pubs and restaurants 500 yards.
