Spectacularly situated on the edge of the Mondaliath and Cairngorm mountain ranges, Steading 5, Balvatin Cottages at Newtonmore is within 15 miles of Aviemore. A perfect Highland retreat, the cottage is family friendly and surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Cairngorms National Park. A choice of walks are direct from your door and local activities range from winter skiing to fishing on the River Spey. The cottage is available all year round and short breaks are offered during low season.
The enclosed garden is south facing with views towards Creag Dubh. We share a car park with two other properties, all of which can be booked together for family holidays - please enquire.
Changeover day is usually Saturday to Saturday. Arrival is from 3pm and departure is by 10am. Short breaks are available off peak.
Steading 5 is your perfect base for exploring the Cairngorms. A choice of popular local walks are direct from your door, and the area offers a wealth of walking and activity opportunities.
Head off along the 6 mile long Wildcat Trail and join us between March and October for the thrilling shinty Highland game season in Newtonmore!
During the winter months sledging and skiing are nearby around Aviemore. Great fishing features on the nearby River Spey, and local activities include hill walking and mountain climbing, swimming, tennis, bowling and shinty matches. Popular local attractions include the award-winning Highland Folk Museum, the Highland Wildlife Park home to over 200 animals, Zip Trek Adventure Park and the Landmark Forest Adventure Park.
Newtonmore is in the Cairngorms National Park at the junction of the A9 Perth to Inverness Road and the A86 to Fort William. Balvatin Cottages are at the southern end of Newtonmore on the village approach road.
