Visit John Ruskin’s former home, Brantwood, explore the Ruskin Museum or take a walk round the village church, his final resting place. Coniston Lake is ideal for kayaking and canoeing, or tour the lake on the steam yacht Gondola in the summer months. Windermere is a short ferry trip across the lake, and all the beautiful lakes can be reached along wonderful scenic drives. Shop and pub serving food 200 yards, restaurant 1½ miles.
