About The Board Inn

A traditional family run pub in the Yorkshire Dales, The Board Inn sits in the heart of Hawes on Market Place, just a short stroll from the Wensleydale Creamery and the Dales Countryside Museum.  Famous beauty spots in the Dales including Hardraw Force and Aysgarth Falls are right on our doorstep, and a wide choice of spectacular walks and cycling opportunities surround us.  No need to leave furry friends behind - we welcome dogs and accommodation is comfortable and appointed to a high standard with all modern comforts including free WiFi.

Guest Rooms

We have five rooms to suit all budgets and tastes and designed with your comfort in mind.  Room choice includes two doubles, two twin bedrooms and a single room  The double and twin rooms all have en-suite bathrooms whilst the single room has a private bathroom. 

  • Room 1 - can be configured as either a double or twin room, and has a TV and an en-suite shower.  This room is pet free, so ideal for any guests concerned about allergies
  • Room 2 - a spacious luxury double room with an en-suite shower and its own seating area, with views of the town centre
  • Room 3 - a cosy single room with views of the street and use of a private bathroom just across the hall
  • Room 4 - a double or twin as you prefer, with a TV, an en-suite shower and town centre views
  • Room 5 - a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom containing a bath and a shower

Breakfast & Packed Lunches

Booking is fully inclusive of a range of breakfast options including our full English cooked breakfast or pre-order our American style pancakes the night before. Breakfast is served daily from 8am to 9.30am offering ample time to enjoy breakfast at a leisurely pace. Check-out is 10am.  For guests planning days out walking and touring, why not take advantage of our pre-booked packed lunch service available on request. 

Bar, Cask Ales & Dining

Enjoy hearty home-cooked and locally sourced pub meals accompanied by the finest Cask Marque ales including our selection from the nearby award-winning Black Sheep Brewery and a range of guest ales.  A customer favourite on the menu is our Steak and Black Sheep Ale Pie and there are delicious seasonal choices year round, as well as our regularly updated specials board.  

The bar, with cosy open fire on colder days, is open daily from noon until midnight, and food is served each day from 12 noon until 8pm (extended to 8.30pm during the summer months and at weekends).  Our friendly bar is popular with locals and visitors alike, and has a cosy log fire and darts boards.  As well as our range of fine Cask ales, we also serve a selection of soft drinks, and specialist coffee and hot chocolate all day. 

Dine in our relaxing bar area, in the snug area separate from our main bar area, or outside in the spacious seating area on warm sunny days.  The snug area is also available for parties of up to 16 guests and can be booked for evenings exclusively for your group.  Customised and buffet menus are available in addition to our regular menu.  

Around and About

Beautiful Hawes is a bustling centre in the Northern Yorkshire Dales, ideally placed for visiting some of the Yorkshire Dales' most popular beauty spots and attractions including the town's award-winning attractions - the Wensleydale Creamery, the Dales Countryside Museum and tours including vintage bus rides.  

Watch the traditional ropemaking process at the Ropemakers or visit nearby attractions including Gayle Mill, Bolton Castle and Black Sheep Brewery tours.  A wealth of outdoor activities are right on your doorstep from walking along the Pennine Way to challenging cycling following the route of Yorkshire's famous Tour de France Grand Depart.
