About this Bed and Breakfast

Originally built in 1737, this Grade II listed building was once the home of Rev John Nesfield and is now The Old Rectory Guest House. Located in Thormanby, a small rural village is North Yorkshire, it’s perfectly situated for exploring the local area. The historical town of York, the spa town of Harrogate and the coastal retreats of Whitby and Scarbrough are all close by.

A warm welcome awaits you on arrival and a hearty Yorkshire breakfast provides a great kick start to your day. Free Wi-Fi is available.

Bedrooms / Bathrooms

We have four gorgeous bedrooms at The Old Rectory, each with a king-size bed, flat screen Freeview TV, en-suite bathroom with complimentary Molton Brown toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities and hospitality tray including wine glasses and bottle opener.

While the rooms have similar facilities, each is distinctively decorated and contains a few unique features.

Nesfield was originally designed for the rector of the house and has a 7ft mahogany four poster bed.

The Higginson room has an unusual vaulted ceiling and stunning furniture from the famous And So to Bed store.

The Hutton room has a mahogany four poster and an ensuite with walk in in rain shower.

Our Caley bedroom overlooks the garden and has some beautiful antique furniture and original fireplace.

Whichever room you choose, you’re guaranteed a peaceful night’s rest.

Breakfast

Our breakfast menu will suit any appetite or preferences.  We use the finest local produce, Aga cooked to perfection.

Other Facilities

Our guest lounge has an open log fire and provides the perfect environment to relax after a long day of walking, sightseeing or shopping.

The house is set in a large old English country garden with the original early Georgian garden wall.

We are a short distance from The Cleveland Way and the North Yorks Moors cycle routes and walks. We can especially cater for walkers, climbers, and cyclists, we provide drying facilities and storage for wet/dirty clothing and equipment, and can offer secure storage for bicycles.
