About this property

Historical Ling House is nestled in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in the village of Threshfield. Just a 20 minute walk from the village of Grassington and close by to the Dales Way and the Cycle Way. Over four centuries ago a Scottish moss-trooper (Jamie Ibbotson) settled and built Ling House and his descendants have lived in it ever since. The family made Threshfield famous for making besoms and horse dealing. Making the besoms from ling gathered from the moor and then delivering them all around the dales using their horses and carts. You can view all the tools they used for making the besoms at Skipton museum and you can still see today several of their favorite horse shoes displayed on the barn door.

The village has its own Pub serving great food, local ales and wine and a Tea Room.

Perfectly located being only a 20 minute walk from the bustling village of Grassington and having the old market town of Skipton with its beautiful castle just 8 miles away.

From Ling House there s plenty to do, you can enjoy beautiful walks or hire a bicycle in Grassington, explore the local historical villages, visit local markets, festivals and exhibitions, fishing at the local trout farm (Kilnsey Park) or buy a day pass and fish on the river wharfe.
