Berwick upon Tweed is a beautiful town steeped in history and is only an hour away from the bustling cities of Newcastle and Edinburgh by train. The house is only a 10 minute walk from the town centre and its shops, cafes, museums and various community events held throughout the year.
The Constable Tower – the remnants of Berwick’s thirteenth century castle – stands in our grounds and we also boast a unique location overlooking the River Tweed and the famous Royal Border Bridge.
The house is surrounded by private pathways and quite riverside walks towards town and into the countryside – ideal for keen walkers and cyclists.
By Car: Take the A1 to Berwick and follow directions to the Railway Station. Turn into Railway Street from Castlegate. After 50 yards turn LEFT immediately BEFORE the station entrance. (Sometimes a blue Bedford van parks outside the house on this corner.) The drive to Castle Vale House goes down 100 yards and you don't see the house till the drive turns left by the high wall.
By Train or Bus: On arrival at the Railway Station, go down the steps on the right next to the telephone box and the taxis. Keep walking down the driveway of Castle Vale House to the front door, fifty yards away.
