Originally built in 1896 for a master mariner, Woodside Villa provides a unique opportunity to savour the history of Whitby’s shipping industry. Both the exterior architecture and interior design still maintain many of the features that made this building so special when it was originally built. Whether it’s a relaxing week-long stay or romantic break, both the B&B and Whitby itself offer something unforgettable. It’s a short walk from the harbour and train station with plenty of parking available.
With a focus on quality and comfort rather than quantity, Woodside Villa has four uniquely decorated rooms. Each stands on its own merits and features central heating, a Freeview TV with DVD/CD player, hospitality tray and free Wi-Fi.
The Rococo room is en-suite with a king size bed, dressing gowns, fireplace, sofa, coffee table and armchair – ideal for a romantic break. Decorated in peppermint and black is the Deco room, finished off with a carved black bed, black slate fireplace, Chesterfield sofa and black chandelier.
The spacious Edwardian room has a super king size canopied bed, chaise longue and a view of Whitby Abbey.
Finally there’s the Summer Palace on the ground floor which features a king size bed and two fireside armchairs.
A tasty breakfast is freshly prepared each morning and served in the Drawing Room. We use only the very best local produce and in addition to the full English, we offer a variety of options such as croissants, Michigan baked oatmeal and gluten free banana pancakes. Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements.
There are a few special extras you can add on to your stay including a champagne breakfast, candlelit evening meal and champagne on ice.
On approaching Whitby from either A171 or the A169 we are directly on the main intersection where these two roads merge to continue into Whitby. At the very top of Prospect Hill
